چکیده

Previously we have proposed that in certain relativistic quantum field theories knotlike configurations may appear as stable solitons. Here we present a detailed investigation of the simplest knotted soliton, the torus-shaped unknot.

Symmetric Soliton Configurations of Bosonic String Theories

We obtain a reduction of the symmetry holographic principle for symmetric configurations of Nambu–Goto–Polyakov string theories in a semi-Riemannian space. The argument reduces the search of string configurations with a certain degree of symmetry to that for elastic curves in a corresponding orbit space. These solutions are solitons which are holographically related to particles that evolve alo...

Knotted Multi-Soliton Configurations with Arbitrary Hopf Index from the Eikonal Equation

The complex eikonal equation in (3+1) dimensions is investigated. It is shown that this equation generates many multi soliton configurations with arbitrary value of the Hopf index. In general, these eikonal hopfions do not have the toroidal symmetry. For example, a hopfion with topology of the trefoil knot is found. Moreover, we argue that such solitons might be helpful in construction of appro...

Constructing a class of topological solitons in magnetohydrodynamics.

We present a class of topological plasma configurations characterized by their toroidal and poloidal winding numbers, nt and np, respectively. The special case of nt=1 and np=1 corresponds to the Kamchatnov-Hopf soliton, a magnetic field configuration everywhere tangent to the fibers of a Hopf fibration so that the field lines are circular, linked exactly once, and form the surfaces of nested t...

Twisted toroidal vortex solitons in inhomogeneous media with repulsive nonlinearity.

Toroidal modes in the form of so-called Hopfions, with two independent winding numbers, a hidden one (twist s), which characterizes a circular vortex thread embedded into a three-dimensional soliton, and the vorticity around the vertical axis (m), appear in many fields, including field theory, ferromagnetics, and semi- and superconductors. Such topological states are normally generated in multi...

Stable vortex tori in the three-dimensional cubic-quintic Ginzburg-Landau equation.

We demonstrate the existence of stable toroidal dissipative solitons with the inner phase field in the form of rotating spirals, corresponding to vorticity S=0, 1, and 2, in the complex Ginzburg-Landau equation with the cubic-quintic nonlinearity. The stable solitons easily self-trap from pulses with embedded vorticity. The stability is corroborated by accurate computation of growth rates for p...
